Somehow, I'm not surprised. I've heard negative things about Delbert Hosemann before. From people who worked with him - and they weren't fired or anything so I don't think it was sour grapes. Sounds like the kind of thing that'd go on with him, based on their characterization.
 

Hosemann and Barbour are correct here. The NYT, as usual, hates Republicans. They write in the editorial: "Mississippi election law clearly states that federal elections must go at the top of ballots." It is true that federal elections go at the top of the ballot. But it goes at the top of the special election ballot, which follow after the regular election ballot. They also write, "Mr. Hosemann is insisting on that placement even after the state attorney general’s office notified him that his ballot design violates state law." The Attorney General, Jim Hood, of course is a Democrat and his notification is only his opinion. He is not the chief election officer, or the person Mississippi's law and constitution entrusts the ballot to. The former is the secretary of state; the latter is the governor.

Anyway, I could write a lot about this but Hosemann and Barbour are following the law and precident...including the precident of Governor Ronnie Musgrove who approved special elections in the same manner on the ballot in 2002.
